Nancy Z. PetersonNancy Z. Peterson, 88, of Milton, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Bates Memorial Presbyterian Church, by Rev. Scott Hoppe. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Huntington. She was born August 22, 1935 in Middlebourne, WV, a daughter of the late Guy and Gail Riggle Zinn. She was preceded in death by her sister, Sarah Wallace and brother-in-law, Dr. Larry Craycraft. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, James G. Peterson; one daughter, Katherine and Dennis Loux of Fairview, TX; two sons, M. Steven Peterson of La Marque, TX and Michael Peterson of Milton, WV; one sister, Rachel Craycraft of Ashland, KY; one sister-in-law, Anne Peterson Floyd of Chester VA, one brother-in-law, Robert Wallace of Harrisonburg, VA; and three grandchildren, James Robert, Steven and Aaron Loux.

Nancy graduated from West Virginia University in 1957 with a bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology. She continued her professional education with American Society for Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) earning the designations of MT, MS and MLS (ASCP). Continuing education was always a high priority. While at the Red Cross she served for three years on the International ASCP Exam Testing Committee. Nancy helped to establish the Vivian McGinnis Professional Development Fund at the Huntington Ronald McDonald House. She retired from the American Red Cross, the West Virginia University Special Projects at CAMC and from Allogen Labs, a division of Cleveland Clinic. She was a 20 year member of the Cabell Huntington Hospital Women’s Philanthropy Society, a member of the Milton Women's Club, Cabell Huntington Republican Women, Cabell County Republican Executive Committee and Bates Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, WV. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.
