Barbara Handley Chaney, 84, of Culloden, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 21, 2024 at her residence. She was born March 20, 1940 in Charleston, W.Va., a daughter of the late Earl and Grace White Handley. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Franklin Chaney; brothers, Clyde Handley, Earl Dennis Handley and Jack Handley; and by one sister, Francis Blake Adams. She is survived by two daughters, Janice Basham and JoAnn Chaney; one son, John Chaney and wife Paula Harbour Chaney; one brother, Carl Handley; four grandchildren, Jordan H. Chaney, Camille Basham, Jessica Thompson and Jasmin Hickman; seven great-grandchildren, Curtis Chaney, C.J. Basham, Jlyn Geiger, Cole Thompson, Alexis Thompson, Gracelyn Thompson and Lily Ranson; and one great-great grandchild, Camerion Basham. At her request, she will be cremated. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Culloden Cemetery. A Fellowship service will follow at Hurricane Baptist Church.
