Penny Leigh Sowards, 54, of Barboursville, WV, July 6, 2024. She was born August 19, 1969, in Huntington, WV, daughter of Brenda Kay McDonie Newman and the late George Allen Newman. She is also survived by her companion Troy Johnston; one daughter Summer Sowards (Nick); one son Heath Sowards (Abby); two stepchildren Tiffani Johnston and Adam Johnston (Ashley); four grandchildren Waylon Sowards, Elena Adkins, Bentley Hickman and Brooklyn Hickman; one brother Nick Newman (Melanie); and special caregivers Beatrice Johnston and Penny Chapman. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2024, at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, with Randy Hall officiating.
