Angelo Gill Jr., 79, of Milton, WV, died peacefully surrounded by his family on September 23, 2024. He was born in the Bronx, New York in 1944. In March of 1968, he became a police officer for the city of Huntington, WV, and retired as a Sergeant in June of 1996. During his 28 year career with HPD, he served as a patrolman, detective, and head of the homicide unit. After his retirement, he worked for both the US Marshals and for Homeland Security.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Felica; his children Michael (Missy), Angela (Bob), Anthony (Jennie), and Amanda (Matthew); his grandchildren, who were the joy of his life, Taylor, Alex, Kyle, Alaina, and Christian; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice, especially Sandy Walters, and Paramount Senior Living for their kindness.
Visitation will be held at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, on Sunday, September 29, 2024 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, on Monday, September 30, 2024 at 11 a.m., with a one hour visitation beforehand. Burial will follow at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery in Dunbar.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund (nleomf.org) or to the Alzheimer’s Association (act.alz.org).
