1951 - 2024

Michael Allen ClarkMichael Allen Clark, 73, of Barboursville, WV died November 28, 2024 at his home surrounded by loved ones. Mike, as most people called him, was best known for his work in law enforcement. His career began as a fingerprint analyst with the FBI in Washington, D.C. following his graduation from Milton High School. He then moved back to West Virginia, where he worked as a police officer at Milton, WV. From this job, he moved on to become a deputy of Cabell County Sheriff’s Department (Badge 12). He graduated from the West Virginia State Police Academy. After several years with CCSD, he returned to Milton Police Department, where he served until he returned to the Cabell County Sheriff’s Department, working his way up to Lieutenant. After more than 30 years in law enforcement, he retired from the CCSD and was recruited to be Superintendent of West Virginia Regional Jail. After retiring from that position, Mike returned to work as an investigator at the Cabell County Public Defender's Office. Mike was very involved within the community, coaching little league football and was a founding member of Fraternal Order Police Lodge 122 as well as past president of Cabell County Deputy Sheriff's Association. Mike was raised in a religious home and gave his life to Jesus as his Lord and Savior as a child. He recently reconfirmed his commitment to God when baptized and anointed with oil by Minister Jerry Shaw at Crook Chapel Holiness Church of God.

Mike put family first in his life. He was preceded in death by his loving father Rev. Frank Clark and mother Faye Ella McGraw Clark; brother General G. Wesley Clark (Jenny, Rhonda); brother Niles Clark; and sister Carolyn Clark Newstrom (Roger).

Mike leaves behind his loving wife Susan Lawson Clark; son Michael Allen Clark II (Dominque); grandsons Michael Allen Clark III and Kobe Clark; brother Tony Clark; stepchildren Kelly Nedrow, Amy Kukucka, and Michelle Payton; grandchildren Vanessa Eljabi, Alannah Parsons, Jerrick Allen, Ryan Swadley, Izabella Trautner, Mathias Russell, Rhiannon Dillon, Elijah Trautner, Layne Dillon, Evan Dillon, Brielle Carter, and Quentin Carter, great grandchildren Jayce Allgeier, Orion Allgeier, Wriggs Crabtree.

Mike was an avid golfer, a Cleveland Browns fan, and loved playing with his four dogs.

Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, December 2, 2024, at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville. Burial will be in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville and from 12 to 1 p.m. Monday prior to the service.

Mike was a mentor when I started my career in law enforcement at Cabell County in 1993. I moved back to WV from CO this past Feb. I wish I’d reached out to Mike. Opportunity missed…
