College : Texas Tech
Profession : Attendant at Reha Ceneter

Children : 0

Dustin Lee Coryell, born April 30, 1982 to Sandra and David Coryell in San Antonio, Texas passed away October 10, 2010 in Fredericksburg, Texas. He grew up in Boerne, Texas and graduated from Boerne High School in 1999. Throughout school he played sports such as basketball, soccer, and baseball. He also raised and showed chickens in 4-H. Dustin attended college in Texas (Blinn, Texas State, North West Vista, and Texas Tech) and Alaska (University of Alaska Anchorage). He moved to Anchorage, Alaska in 2003 and stayed until 2006. While in Alaska Dustin attended college, worked, fished, explored, spent a lot of time with his brother Derek and nieces and nephew and lived life as Dustin did with many people around him. It was in Anchorage that Dustin adopted Mocha, his Brindle beauty in 2004. It was not long at all before his exceptional qualities attracted countless new friends in this new place. Dustin returned to Texas and resided in Menard, San Antonio and finally in Kerrville until 2010. Throughout his life, Dustin touched many lives. Especially, in his last three years where he resided in Kerrville and worked in several settings similar in service (State Hospital, Youth and Adult rehabilitation). Dustin found a niche in the community where he could make a difference in the lives of others. He selflessly served others with his kindness, compassion and gentleness. There was not a person who met Dustin who was not touched by his friendliness, openness and true sincerity. Dustin was the type of person who would sit down with a perfect stranger and genuinely listen to their story and give them his time with no hesitation, just because it was the right thing to do. It was not something he sought out to do; it was the way he lived. Dustin was the youngest of three boys. Devin, his oldest brother resides in Menard. Derek, his middle brother and sister in law Michelle reside in Helotes with his nephew Lyndon and nieces Presley and AnnaLee Coryell. These, along with his aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends will dearly miss this endearing young man. Dustin became a part of Narcotics Anonymous (NA) by choice in 2007 desiring to be among others who shared his fight to overcome addictions. It was at this point in his life that he found his extended family and home away from home. He went from being (just a participant) to feeling connected and ultimately a powerful sponsor, and meeting leader for the community. Gratitude in the Grove became the annual NA weekend gathering in Menard at the Coryell orchard on the river over the last three years. This amazing group of powerfully connected people in Kerrville have provided continuous love and support through the devastation Dustin's family and friends have endured. Immediately following the news of Dustin's accident, this group of people arranged a fundraiser where over 100 attendees gathered to share and grieve along with donate money to help the Coryell family meet the expenses incurred with his passing. There was no time between the memorial service notification from the family and a phone call stating, (We will take care of all of the refreshments for the gathering after the service, we want to do this.) There was a constant stream of friends at Dustin's home expressing their sympathy to the family and offering their help in any way. Your support and love helped us to be strong, especially knowing who he was surrounded by every day.

A memorial stone is being created that will be placed by the river in Menard for future Gratitude on the Grove annual meets. The residents of Menard have been especially supportive to the family, thank you. We are grateful to First United Methodist Church of Menard for your prayers and continued support. The Coryells express their gratitude to Element Tattoo Studios in San Antonio for all of the work that you did for Dustin's friends in Memorial of his life.

Memorial Service will be held at First United Methodist Church at 321 Thompson Dr Kerrville, Saturday 10-16-10, 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to Dustin's House, a grant for people who need housing but cannot afford it in Kerrville (First State Bank P.O. Box 38 Menard, Texas 76859).

The family invites you to send condolences to www.timeformemory.com/wrights.

Arrangements are under the care of Wright's Funeral Parlor in Kerrville.
