Earl V. Carr, age 85, of Kerrville passed from this life Tuesday, January 24, 2012. He was born in Bowling green, Kentucky on August 05, 1926 to parents Joe Wilson Carr and Bonnie Marie Morgan Carr. Both parents preceded him in death. His older brother Charles Edward Carr was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky preceded him in death. He volunteered for World War II service in the US Navy in 1943 and served until honorably discharged in 1946. After a few years working in the early days of television broadcasting, he accepted an aerospace engineering position.He participated in Mission Control Room assignments trough all Mercury, Gemini, Skylab and Apollo missions. He was assigned to the International Space Station team in the early days before the first assembly launch. He fulfilled many space flight engineering assignments until retirement some 35 years later. A Life Member of the Institute of electrical and Electronics Engineers, he also an amateur photographer who enjoyed golf. His hobbies included fishing, walking and in earlier days, running trails off the beaten path. He was a son, brother, friend, soldier, husband, father, explorer, inventor and grandfather. A quiet reserved family man, he loved two women in this life. Marie Mary Lee Lucas Carr (his first love) preceded her husband in death. Their surviving identical twins, Bonnie Lee Dorsen of Webster, Texas and Connie Marie Woodcock and husband Robert Ernest Woodcock Sr of Rusk, Texas, celebrate the blessing of his life. He is survived by his second love, Judy Rae Bowers Carr of Kerrville with whom he celebrated twenty three and one half years of marriage together. He is survived by his step daughter Julie Ann Bowers Antley and husband Bronson of League City, Texas and step son Bryan Paul Bowers of Clear Lake City, Texas. He is survived also by grandson James Earl Acton and wife Nicole of League City, Texas, great grand children Michael James, Amberly Jane and Rylee Faye; grandson Travis Raymond Rosenbach and wife Nicole of Chicago, Illinois, step daughter Alexandria and grand daughter Meghean Marie Rosenbach of Poughkeepsie, New York; step grandson Robert Ernest Woodcock Jr and wife Brenda of Dickinson, Texas, step great grandchildren Lindsey and Kayla; and step grandson John Keith Woodcock and wife Leann of Santa Fe, Texas, step great grandchildren Hunter and Fisher. He's never far from us. Love endures forever. We miss him. But our comfort lies in the faith he has seen the face of God. Dad now rests, comforted and well surrounded by God's mercy and love. Military memorial graveside service will be held 2:30 pm, Tuesday Jan. 31, 2012 at Houston National Cemetery, Houston, Texas with interment following.
