BLACKER, Elizabeth Betty Josephine

Betty went to be with Jesus on November 8, 2009 at her home with family and friends by her bedside. Betty was born on July 27, 1962 in Paw Paw, MI to William and Madonna (Meissen) Burmester. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School and graduated from Paw Paw High School Class of 1980. Betty attended the Van Buren Technology Center, or Skill Center as it was known then, participating in the Office Management Program. Out of high school, Betty worked for Dr. Ravi of Hartford as a receptionist and later was employed by R.E. Schell Enterprises working as an attendant at the Stadium Discount Coin Laundry in Kalamazoo. While working here Betty would meet her husband Jimmie D. Blacker Jr. and were united in marriage on May 6th, 1989 at the Paw Paw United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband Jimmie Dale Blacker Jr., daughters Brittany Elizabeth and Alison Janette all of Lawrence; brother, William Patrick "Pat" (Cathy) Burmester II of Paw Paw; 3 sisters, Mary (Patrick) Barnhart of Kalamazoo, Barbara Burmester of Paw Paw, and Donna (Ricky) McCartney of Gobles; aunt, Kate Jacobsen; several nieces nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, William Patrick and Madonna Mary Burmester. Betty was a Girl Scout when she was younger, and worked as a Girl Scout Leader in Lawrence. She was a member of the Lawrence Township Fire Flames, an organization that supports the local fire department and quick response team. Family will receive friends Thursday (11/12) 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Adams Funeral Home in Paw Paw where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Gene Moore of the Bloomingdale United Methodist Church officiating. Internment will be at Hill Cemetery in Lawrence immediately following the service. Memorials contributions may be made to the Blacker Family, the Van Buren ISO's Student Scholarship Program, Heartland Hospice, The Lawrence Township Emergency Services, The Bloomingdale United Methodist Church, The Crohns and Colitis Foundation, and The Girl Scouts of Lawrence.

Dear Jimmie and Family,
Words can't begin to express the sorrow I feel and the sympathy and prayers I send to you all with the passing of Betty. I had a great honor in caring and getting to know Betty and her wrey sense of humor under difficult times. You all should be so proud of her, and we are all so blessed to have had know Betty for any length of time. Please know that I think of you often and may God bless you in these difficult days. Cindy
