To Connie's children: I knew your mother years ago when she and my husband David were both on dialysis awaiting transplants. My husband received his kidney from his father a few weeks after your mom got her New Year's gift. They were both in their mid-20's at the time and they had a great time livening up the hospital. She was such a fun person. I'm glad she had the "gift of life".

I just read about your mother in the Courier. If I'd known sooner, I would have been there on Wednesday and Thursday. Connie was such a dear person. When she helped me in my classroom, years ago, she was like a second teacher in the room, always giving her all. My students always loved her and she was a tremendous assistant.
Heaven will be a brighter place with Connie there. Greg, Brandon, Garrett and Amanda, I wish you well.

I grew up down the road from the Schermerhorns and went to school with garrett, greg, amanda and brandon. I only met Connie once or twice but she was a nice woman. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.

Connie and I were more like sisters rather than cousins. We had so much fun growing up together. There are so many memories I could write a book. Our favorite past time was staying overnight at our Grandma Freese's and walking up town to the dime store for a cherry coke and stroll through the park and wade in the river on our way back to Grandma's. We had our own club of 2 where we would go down to the basement of her house in Three Rivers and put on a record of the Monkeys and use whatever for microphones and dance our hearts out. Even in our later years we continued staying with each other on special occasions. Connie stayed with me the night before I got married and we played the Monkeys for old time sake and did our hair and nails and danced. She was maid of honor at my wedding and I hers. She even got married on my birthday and I came home a day early of my honeymoon to be with her on her birthday. Over the years we shared stories and advice with our children and even though we did'nt get to spend as much time together as we wished we could, we always picked up right where we left off. I know when I join her in heaven that's exactly what we'll do. Connie, I LOVE YOU AND WILL BRING THEESE MEMORIES WITH ME. And to all of Connie's children, you were her dream come true. All she ever wanted in life was to be your loving, caring, mother. I know you all lived up to her dream. She was so very proud of you all. Connie was an Angel on Earth. Now it's time to spread her wings and soar. I know she will be watching over all of us as was her nature. GOD BLESS YOU AS YOU WILL HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE.
Love Ya, Deb

Connie was a beautiful person all the way around. I met her through the Embroiders Guild and I always admired her smile. With all the health problems she endured she always seemed to be very happy. My condolences to her family that I know she loved so much. She will be greatly missed. Stephanie Bunch
