1937 - 2010
Age: 72
MAYNE, Walter L., Jr.
Paw Paw
Walter L. Mayne, Jr. bid his final goodbye the morning of June 16, 2010 at home, surrounded by his loving wife and five children. Delores, wife of 50 years, remains and mourns the loss of her "strong willed" husband. Born September 16, 1937 in Chicago, IL, he was predeceased by his parents Walter and Florence. Wally's greatest gift is his children, Walter (Patricia), Thomas, Susan (Brian) Cross, Sandra Tapper, and Joseph (Patricia); grandchildren, Mike, Melissa, Sarah, Wally, Josh, Stephanie, Nicholas, Kayla, David, Jill, Hunter, Carter, and Mason; great grandchildren, Lauren, Jessica, Jenna, Michael and Megan. Wally's sister Phyllis (Frank) Fiedler survives along with several nieces and nephews. Early in life he loved drag racing and bowling. As he aged, his interest changed to shooting pool, his flower garden and displaying his 1932 Ford pickup at local car shows. He was a member of St. Marys Church, Paw Paw and the Knights of Columbus Council #3798, Paw Paw. He was a loyal friend and loved conversing with friends over a hearty meal or a lively card game. Surviving cancer for 16 years, exemplifies his ability to beat the odds. As a retired Vice President of Byce and Associates, Inc. in Kalamazoo, Wally designed electrical infrastructures for commercial facilities. Although Wally's life here has ended, he will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends. Family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Friday, at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw, with a vigil service at 7:30. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Paw Paw. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Paw Paw. Memorials may be directed to the Paw Paw Firefighters Association.
