Mr. John T. Sexton, age 72, of Buchanan passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2004. Mr. Sexton was born in Marshall County, Alabama on August 25, 1932. He was the son of the late Mr. Bradley Marion Sexton and the late Mrs. Mittie Jane Wallace. Mr. Sexton was a veteran of the United States Army and was a retired Haralson County Deputy Sheriff.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Ann Tolbert Sexton of Buchanan; four daughters, Freda Williams of Tallapoosa, Dynna Wilson of Buchanan, Kelli Bell of Buchanan, and Becky Hunt of Buchanan; two sisters, Jane Kellett of Geraldine, AL and Ruth Pope of Pensacola, FL; five brothers, Tom Sexton of Huntsville, AL, Brad Sexton of Huntsville, AL, Wallace Sexton of Boaz, AL, Bryant Sexton of Birmingham, AL, and Clyde Sexton of Atlanta; four grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 21, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. from the Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. Buddy Gentry officiating. Music will be provided by Rev. Brian McGarity. Interment will follow in the County Line Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Bobby Nelson, Irby Sellers, Vance Posey, Greg Bowers, Joey Hunt, Allen Williams, and Benny Tolbert. Honorary pallbearers will be Robbie Wilson, Mark Bradley, Joey Hunt, Jr., Mark Brown, and Mike Brown. Police honors will be provided by the Tallapoosa Police Department Honor Guard and other area law enforcement officers.
