Mr. J.D. Morris, age 81, of Buchanan passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2005. Mr. Morris was born in Haralson County on June 7, 1923. He was the son of the late John Dewey Morris and the late Velma Irene Perry Morris. Mr. Morris was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II and was retired from Lockheed Aircraft. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jerry L Morris; and a brother Hershel Morris.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Carnes Morris of Buchanan; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Cyndie Morris of Bremen; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy and Agnes Morris of Buchanan, and Ray and Margaret Morris of Buchanan; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 18, 2005 at 3:00 P.M. from the Buchanan Church Of God with Rev. Garvin Sellers and Rev. Floyd McComb officiating. Music will be rendered by Ricky Shirley, Peggy Shepard, and Pat Sailors. Interment will follow in the Buchanan City Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Russell Ward, Ricky Davis, Glenn Blackwelder, Earl Sailors, Jason Spray, Jeremy Crane, and Burl Meek.
