1921 - 2005
Mrs. Verna Martha Lucas Loop, age 83, of Carrollton passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2005. Mrs. Loop was born in Douglas County, Illinois on September 9, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Albert Hudson Lucas and the late Martha Tackett Lucas. Mrs. Lucas was retired from the Affirmitive Action Office of the University Of California at Irvine and was a member of the Carrollton First Christian Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, M.S. Loop and a daughter, Harriett Hein.
Survivors include two daughers, Cheri Foster of Lyden, WA and Elise Wilkins of Buchanan; one brother, Albert Ed Lucas of Tampa, FL; eleven grandchildren; and a number of great grandchildren and other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 18, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Minister Jon Day officiating. Music will be rendered by Rev. Buddy Gentry. Interment will follow in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Scott Carter, Billy Morris, Curtis Pope, Keith Pope, Hubert Hulsey, and Greg Wilkins.
Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel of Buchanan was in charge of the arrangements.
