Ross Lee Bowers, III, 77, quietly met his maker September 26, 2024. He has been battling Parkinson’s and End Stage Renal Disease for many years. A member of Sandhill Christian Baptist Church, he is survived by his wife of 51 years Bunny, (Anna Marie) in Franklin Furnace; two sons, James Russell and Nicholaus Jahnz of Savannah; 10 grandchildren, and two brothers, Bob (Valerie), and Bill (Carol).
Ross gave his life to the Lord and to the education of many Respiratory Therapy Students. He took a hospital-based program in Savannah, Georgia and turned it into a University Baccalaureate Program that was Nationally recognized for Excellence. He wrote the licensure for Georgia Respiratory Care and he was President for many years for the Savannah Chapter of the Ambucs which worked with Americans with disabilities and was instrumental in getting the Amtrykes started in that chapter for children with disabilities. He loved his Georgia Bull Dawgs and could talk football for days, he was fun loving and loved his Church and the people in it. He never met a person that he didn’t like and he was easy to love.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 30, 2024 at Sandhill Christian Baptist Church with Jared Timberlake officiating. Burial will be at Haverhill Cemetery. Friends may call at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Really sorry to hear of Ross' passing. We lived in the same neighborhood and went to the same elementary and high schools (Kirkwood and Murphy) and Rosss seemed to be always there, ready to take part in whatever we were doing. I remember his family very well, especially his wonderful mother. May you rest in peace, my old friend.

Dear Bowers Family,
The GSRC sends their heartfelt condolences. Mr. Bowers dedication to the profession, his passion for the GSRC and dedication to the educational advancement nationally and locally at GA Southern has left a lasting legacy. As a past GSRC President, a 2 time recipient of the Morton B. Duggan Distinguished Service award, writing of the respiratory therapy licensure here in GA, and former AARC House Speaker he helped shape the profession of respiratory therapy in GA and we thank him and your for that. His legacy still walks the hall of many hospitals in GA, through the many students he inspired. . May the Lord carry you on this difficult road you will be traveling, know the GSRC is mourning with you.

Bunny, you and Ross made an indelible mark on our lives and in our hearts! Both of you stand head and shoulders above the crowd. Bunny, You and Ross have touched so many lives in a positive way. I have great memories of the times we had together and will not let go of those. I know that I am a better person for having known Ross. With deepest sympathy.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of another MHS classmate. I knew Ross. We shared classes at MHS (class of 1965). Prayers to his family and friends.
