Rev. James Kenneth Kemp, age 71, Bowdon passed away peacefully on Monday, October 24, 2005 at Haralson Nursing Home in Bremen.
He was born December 6, 1933in Summersville, KY, the son of the late James Scott Kemp and Cora Nell Curry.
Mr. Kemp retired from Ford Motor Company in 1989. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Bowdon. He served as pastor and associate pastor of several churches over the years. He loved to spread God’s Word and truly enjoyed being around people of any age.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie Runette Adamson Kemp of Bowdon; one daughter, Kim Ream and husband Kurt of Warrensburg, MO; one son, Phil Kervin and wife Rica of Carrollton; two sisters, Rosie Mae Smith of Tallulah, IL and Shirley Kochman of Springfield, IL; two brothers, Raymond Kemp of Springfield, IL and Bobby Kemp of Mason City, IL; three grandchildren, Brandon Godwin of Warrensburg, MO, Chris Kervin of Carrollton and Stephanie Kervin of Carrollton; and a numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 31, 2005 at 2:0 P.M. from the Corinth Baptist Church of Bowdon with Rev. Gary Stewart and Rev. Johnnie Carden officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 5:00 until 9:00 P.M. Serving as Pallbearers are: Buddy Cross, Linzey Cross, H.C. Houston, Buddy Beith, Robert McDurmon, Floyd King, and Ray Croker.
