1911 - 2009
Vernena E. Addis, 98, Gallipolis, Ohio, went to her heavenly home on April 13, 2009. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
Vernena was born on April 19, 1911 in Proctorville, Ohio, daughter of the late Arnold Murdoch and Ethel Taylor Murdoch Jones. She married Millard F. Addis on January 21, 1928 in Ironton, Ohio. To this union was born two daughters: Lyndall L. (James) Riedel of Leesburg, Florida and Joyce A. (Robert) Thomas of Gallipolis, Ohio.
Also surviving are grandchildren: Debbie (Ronnie) Smith and Eric L. Thomas of Gallipolis, Joyce Phillips of Springfield, Ohio, Michael Riedel of Palm Bay, Florida, Barbara (David) Mellott of Leesburg, Florida, and James (Ann) Riedel of Auburn, Alabama, 14 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren, many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Preceding her in death, besides her parents were her step-father William Jones, beloved husband and companion of 65 years, Millard, brother Wilford Murdoch and half brother William Russell Jones.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, April 17, 2009, at the McCoy Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, with Rev. Isaac Shupe officiating. Burial will follow in the OhioValley Memory Gardens, Gallipolis. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Thursday April 16, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 P.M..
