Verlin L. Stevens, 81, Vinton, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, OH. He was born on May 15,1927, in Owsley, Kentucky, son of the late Whetzel and Minnie Burgess Stevens. Verlin was a retired coal miner, a member of the United Mine Workers and a member of Debbie Drive Chapel Church, Gallipolis. He married Georgia Murphy Stevens on July 13, 1945 in Williamson, West Virginia. and she survives along with two sons and three daughters, Fred (Melissa) Stevens of Banner, KY Tim (Jenny) Stevens of Scott Depot, WV; Ruby Turton of Banner, KY, Donna (Richard) Mollohan of Gallipolis, OH, Leisha (Ken) Baylor of Gallipolis, OH. Eleven grandchildren: Steven Wheeler, Jeremy (Lisa) Wheeler, Erica (Chris) Hampton, Michael (Gwynn) Mollohan, Allen Stevens, Nick Buck, Ashley Baylor, Brad Baylor, Nathan Stevens, Nathan Embree, and Grace Embree Fifteen great-grandchildren: Amanda, Mike, Gene, William, Cameron, Emleigh, Alexis, and Madison Wheeler; Seth and Tyler Carpenter; Brady and Kali Hampton; Matthew Mollohan, Saige Taggart, Rhiannon Lynch In additon to his parents Verlin was preceded by one grandson, TJ Stevens; two brothers, Orvel and Columbus Stevens, and one sister, Maudine Wolford. Funeral services will be held, 3:00 pm Sunday, April 19, 2009 at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home in Vinton, Ohio, with Pastor David Johns officiating. Burial will follow at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens in Gallipolis. Friends may call at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton on Saturday, 4:00-7:00pm.
