A MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2010, 11 A.M. AT THE PAW PAW UNITED METHODIST CHURCH.
Dick passed away Friday afternoon, September 3, 2010 at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born January 5, 1933 in Kalamazoo the son of the late Melvin and Beatrice (Rogers) Ploof. Dick was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War serving on the USS George and was employed in the sales department of Consumers Energy for 38½ years retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Paw Paw United Methodist Church, was a board member, fair manager and President of the Van Buren Youth Fair for many years, enjoyed golfing, riding a unicycle, was an avid football fan and a jokester. On October 18, 1952 in Otsego, Dick was united in marriage to Jacqueline F. Montague who survives. Also surviving are 2 children, Shellaine Ploof of Gobles and Craig Ploof of Paw Paw; God grandchildren, Amber and Robert Wheatley; a niece, several nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Donald and Robert. Interment of cremains in Fort Custer National Cemetery with military honors. Arrangements are by the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw. Memorial contributions may be made to the Paw Paw United Methodist Church or the American Diabetes Association.

Dick was one of the vary few fine gentlmen I have ever met. That was over 40 years ago. We worked and played together, I just wish I had stopped more often to play or at least to visit. I thought of Dick and Jackie often I hope that counts. Susan and I send our love to the family.
