Paw Paw
Dick passed away Thursday morning, December 16, 2010 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He was born January 14, 1933 in Lawrence, MI the son of the late Arba and Bertha Johnson. Dick was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War serving on the USS Wrangell. He was a member of the American Legion, McGowan-Johnson Post # 68, Paw Paw and the Post 68 firing squad and drill team. He was employed at Lawrence Auto Body and then Bills Auto Body Shop in Lawton until his retirement in 2001. Dick loved reading westerns, drag racing, fishing, playing in the table pool league and most of all his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Judy of Paw Paw; 2 daughters, Bonnie (Tim) Riley of Plainwell, and Denise Strong of Paw Paw; son, Greg Cooper of Paw Paw; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Frank (Ardith) Johnson of Lawrence, Gerald Archie Johnson of Paw Paw and Robert Johnson of California; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Herbert and Glen Johnson; 3 sisters, Carol Johnson, Lenna Peters, and Genevieve Bowers. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2010, 2 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw with military honors following the service. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

Please accept my deepest sympathy on Dick's passing. I truely enjoyed meeting him and talking about the ol' navy days.
