Nellie Lake Griffith, 82, of Ashland, passed away Tuesday morning, Dec. 13, 2016, in Taylor Manor Nursing Home in Versailles. She was born June 12, 1934, in Ashland, to the late Albert Harrison Lake Sr. and Ada Ethel Conley Lake. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Lois Young and Rose Buckland; and a brother, Albert Lake Jr. Nellie was a charter member of Thirteenth Street Baptist Church and retired after 27 years of service from Charles Russell Elementary School. Survivors include her loving husband, Carl E. Griffith of Ashland; daughters Carla (Mitchell) Bryan and Nancy Griffith both of Lexington; sisters Sharon Lake of Ashland, Laura York of Worthington, Jenny Neal of Parma Heights, Ohio, and Wanda Erwin of Catlettsburg; and three grandchildren, Monica (Cody) Sparks, Andrea Bryan and Emily Bryan. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, 2017, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland with Pastor Jim Byrd officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
