1998 - 2017

Macayla Cheyanne SantanaA memorial service for Macayla Cheyanne Santana, 19, of Vidor will be 10:00 am Monday, July 24, 2017 at Turning Point Church in Vidor. Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee.

Macayla passed away on July 18, 2017 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.

She graduated from Parkview Baptist in Sulphur, LA. Macayla had a passion for cosmetology and all of her friends loved her doing their hair and make-up. She also spent her time rescuing dogs, and was currently working as a dog groomer in Nederland. Singing was one of her biggest dreams; she had auditioned for American Idol and The Voice. She was a member of the Bridge City Cardinal Singers, and was a very talented singer and guitar player. Macayla had a huge heart and her smile lit up a room. She liked to spend time with her friends; who all called her “Mimi”. She enjoyed going four-wheeler riding and mudding with her friends, and she was not afraid to get dirty as a matter of fact she loved it. Macayla was loving, talented, full of dreams, and made an everlasting impact on all who knew her. She will be forever in our hearts.

Macayla is preceded in death by her daddy Heath Nequent.

Left behind to cherish her memories are her mother Betty Jeannine Garbs of Vidor; father Michael Ray Vaughn of Lake Charles; grandparents Frederic and Mary Hillebrandt of Orange and Frank Garbs Jr. of Vidor; boyfriend Ira Lynn Braneff of Vidor; uncles Charles Garbs of White Oak, TX and Jeff Garbs of Los Angeles, CA; brothers Kayleb Garbs of Orange, Jose’ Solis and Jesus Solis both of Vidor, and Hunter Vaughn of Lake Charles; sisters Katie Vaughn of Lumberton and Briana Solis of Orange. Also surviving her are numerous aunts, uncles, and very many friends.

Macayla will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

It is always upsetting when a beautiful young person with a promising future ahead is suddenly taken from this life. My sincere condolences to all that loved Macayla Santana. It is also upsetting for the family of another taken too soon to have to bear the perpetration of an untruth about their loved one. Macayla was born years before her mother met Heath Nequent. While she may have viewed him as a father figure he was not her daddy. When this untruth was introduced at Heath's passing it was made clear that it was hurtful to his family members. They should not have to suffer the condolences for a granddaughter they did not have and McKayla shouldn't have this lie shift the focus from a beautiful girl Gone Too Soon. Rest in peace Macayla.

My family sends your family the deepest of condolences. I cant imagine what you are going through. I know you don't understand why she was taken so soon. But when we get to Heaven, it will be explained.. I know we haven't seen each other or talked to each other in person, but I want you to know I still consider you a dear friend. I never told you this , but I had a sister that died at the age of 14 . I never got to meet her, since she died two years before I was born. But I miss her and think about her every day. I am reassured that she is in a better place than here on earth with all the pain, suffering, and killing. I know she is safe. I know you loved her very much and will miss her a lot. But you can know she is in a better place. I know it will be hard to believe that. We love you and will be praying for you and your family.
