In Loving Memory

Elmer Cooley

May 28, 1938 – August 27, 2017

Elmer Cooley, 79, of Livingston, TX went to his Heavenly home Sunday, August 27, 217 after passing away at Kingwood Hospital.

He worked primarily in the oilfield industry for Ashland oil for 47 years, and retired from serving his local church of Livingston First Assembly of God where he was a long-standing member.

Elmer was known to many as a farmer, fisherman, a loving father, a Christian, a provider, and friend. He was the kind of man that would give you the shirt off his back. He loved his family, his church and God. He loved to visit with friends and help people in need, all you had to do was ask and he was there ready and willing to help.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Angie Lee Van Pelt Cooley and Robert Franklin Cooley, his brother, A C Cooley and a son, Robert Allen Cooley.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Crickett Cooley of Livingston, TX; five daughters, Wanda Cooley of Brenham, TX, Renee Pond and husband Kevin of Brenham, TX. Paula Cooley of Houston, TX, Marla Demarest of Livingston, TX and Cheryl Cooley of Brenham, TX; four sisters, Velma Self of Silsbee, TX , Marie Smith of Woodville, TX, Nancy West of Sour Lake, TX and Hazel Tyson of Singer LA; 12 grandkids and 4 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way, a;pmg with his best canine companion, Skylar.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 pm Monday, September 4, 2017 at Farmer Funeral Home, 415 N 4th St., Silsbee TX 77656. Reverends Chris Borden and Wayne Landrum will officiate. Interment will follow at Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred, TX. Visitation will also be on Monday from 10:00 am until the funeral services begin..

In lieu of flowers and gifts we respectfully request that a monetary donation be made in the deceased’s name to Farmer Funeral Home.

Pallbearers to serve will be Sam Cavalier, Kevin Poole, Shane Russell, Jimmie Rowland, Kyle Huvar and Ryan Pond, as well as an honorary pallbearer, Dakota Cooley.

LUV; PRAYERS AND BLESSINGS TO ELMER AND HIS FAMILY. HE WAS SUCH A GOOD HEARTED PERSON WHEN WE ALL WENT TO SCHOOL IN SILSBEE, TEXAS. HE HAD A HARD LIFE BUT ALWAYS HAD A SMILE. HIS BROTHER A.C. WHO MARRIED DOROTHY SKINNER WENT TO SCHOOL WITH MY SWEET DARRELL DOGGETT (GRADUATED FROM SILSBEE HIGH IN 1952 AND I GRADUATED IN 1957 FROM SILSBEE HIGH SCHOOL). REMEMBER ELMER'S FAMILY WHO LIVED IN SILSBEE ON FARM ROAD 1122. WE ALL KNEW EACH OTHER BACK IN THE OLD DAYS. LUVED EVERYONE AND ALWAYS HAD GET TOGETHERS (THE RUSOS; THE YORKS; THE JONES FAMILY; THE COOLEYS; THE GRAYS; THE ALEXANDERS AND OTHERS----JUST ONE BIG FAMILY)....A LOT HAVE PASSED ON......ALWAYS REMEMBER GOD LUVS; HEALS; BLESSES; LUVS; AND ANSWERS PRAYERS FOR ALL. HAS A PLAN FOR ALL OF US AND THIS WAS HIS PLAN FOR ELMER. MUCH LUV TO ALL OF YOU FROM EDDIE HICKS DOGGETT (CLASS OF 1957)
