Louise Joyce Anderson, also known as Joyce Anderson, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus in heaven on Friday, May 2, 2014. Joyce was born on Oct. 5, 1933 as Louise Joyce Busby to George W. and Ruby L. Busby. She graduated from Roy Miller High School and attended Southwest Texas State College in San Marcos, Texas, earning her bachelor of science in education on May 27, 1962. She furthered her education at Prairie View A&M University of Texas by earning her Master of Education degree on May 2, 1976. For several years, Joyce taught in the Philippine Islands at Clark Air Force Base. When she came back to the United States, she married Eugene R. Anderson and was a teacher for the Houston Independent School District for more than 30 years. After her retirement she moved to Kerrville with her husband Eugene, where they built a modest home together. Joyce was involved with some of her dearest friends in the Red Hat Society of Kerrville. She enjoyed golfing and the outdoors. Joyce and Eugene traveled all over the U.S. and Canada together.
She loved bird watching and collected anything having to do with birds and mice. Joyce was preceded by her parents, George and Ruby Busby; her nephew, Randall Scott Dowda; and her brother-in-law Kenneth Monroe Dowda.
She is survived by her loving husband of more than 40 years, Eugene R. Anderson; her sister, Gwendolyn Busby Dowda of Cibolo, Texas; and her nephew and his wife, Michael K. and Rebecca A. Dowda, and their daughter, Shelby L. Dowda, all from Cibolo.
Memorials may be made to the Butt-Holdsworth Library located at 505 Water St., Kerrville, TX 78028.
Memorial Service will be 1 pm, Friday, May 09, 2014 at Wright's Funeral Parlor.
