George George Lawson "Dicky" Overbey, aged 72, passed away on October 4, 2014 in Kerrville, Texas. He was born on May 11, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan to Richard and Ella Overbey of Clarksville, Arkansas. Dicky grew up in Clarksville, Arkansas and Tulsa, Oklahoma. He began playing various instruments and singing as a child. Dicky played in rock n roll and country bands as a teen and later moved to Nashville, Tennessee where he made a career as a professional musician and songwriter playing with different nationally known artists on the road and on studio sessions. Many of the songs he wrote were recorded over the years by some of country music's biggest names. Dicky also spent some years working on the Camp Ranch and Baker Ranch in the Texas Hill Country when he wasn't playing music. Dicky is survived by his wife of 24 years, Donna Jean Overbey; Stepdaughter, Amber and Step Son-in-law, Randy Lindley; Stepson, David Digby; Step Grandchildren, Zach Zaerr, Hannah, Ethan, Caleb, and Carrie Lindley. Memorial Service: Wednesday, October 15th, 2014 - 03:00 PM - Wright's Funeral Parlor
