Dorinda Rebecca Brewer was called from this life to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 06, 2014. Dorinda was born on Jan. 31, 1929 in Mercedes to Paul and Margaret Schrank. She graduated from Mercedes High School in 1946 and marrying the love of her life Harold Brewer on Dec 21, 1946. They were married for 66 years when Harolds death finally separated them. While raising four children, decided to attend college and get a degree in English with a minor in mathematics. She started teaching before finishing her degree, graduating Cum Laude in 1960. She taught secondary mathematics in Mercedes for 28 years.
Dorinda loved the ocean and she loved to paint. She also enjoyed playing the piano and board games with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also an accomplished gardener and cook. Dorindas life was service to others, whether it was her family, her students or others in need; being generous to a fault.
Dorinda is preceded in death by her husband, Harold; parents, Paul and Margaret; brothers, Richard, Ernest and Paul; grandson, Paul.
She is survived by her children, Ken and wife Sallie, Martin and wife Kathy, Karen and husband Edward, Billy Earl and wife Kim; grandchildren, Chantille, Heather, Rebecca, Brian, Amber and Keely; 3 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 11 am, Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Martin Brewer's home, 393 Bushwhack Road, Kerrville.
