Wayne Douglas Thacker who passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014 in a local hospital. He was born on January 3, 1934 in Kerr County, Texas to Hal W and Myrtle L. Thacker. Wayne was a 1951 graduate of Tivy High School and was trained as a radio operator and repair specialist at a Beaumont Tech School.
Wayne served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Lowery AFB in Denver, CO in the fifties as an electronics instructor. After an honorable discharge he worked for Kerrville Electric as an electrician and later joined the Engineering Test group at Mooney Aircraft in Kerrville and later in San Angelo, Texas. In 1970 when Mitsubishi Heavy Industries bought out the San Angelo division of the company, he continued to work for them in the flight test area for the MU2 and Diamond A aircraft. When the company was sold to Beechcraft, Wayne retried to Kerrville.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his 4 children Jamie Cox, Billy Martin, Louisa Dills of Las Vegas, Nevada and Susan Thacker of Kerrville, TX. Also surviving is a brother Arlen Thacker of Kerrville and Hal Thacker of Salado, TX and sister Marlene Hawkins of Floresville.
There will be no public services in keeping with Wayne's wishes. Burial will be a private family time.
