Robert Burton McKnight Sr., 90, of Ashland, passed away Friday, Feb 26, 2016.
Bob was born July 7, 1925, in Russell, son of the late Stephen McKnight and Lucy Griffith McKnight.
He was a graduate of Russell High School and attended Ashland Junior College and Marshall University. He was employed by CSX for 42 years and served as trainmaster in several locations. Bob was a Kentucky colonel and member of Rose Hill Baptist Church. He was the founder and owner of McKnight Motor Sales in Flatwoods.
He is survived by his wife, June Webb McKnight of Ashland; a sister, Kate Keyes of Bellefonte; a son, Robert B. McKnight Jr. of Ironton, Ohio; a grandson, Dustin McKnight of Colorado; a daughter, Kimberly McKnight Heck (Larry) and grandson, Zachary Heck of Centerville; and other loved ones.
He will always be remembered for his kindness and generosity to people in need and the love for his family, friends and UK basketball.
The funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 216, at Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum Chapel in Ashland by Dr. Matt Shamblin of Rose Hill Baptist Church.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. Saturday at the mausoleum chapel.
