Elder Harry M. Owens, 79, of Russell, loving husband and father, went home to his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, in Oakmont Manor in Flatwoods, following an extended illness.
Harry was born June 11, 1936, in Ashland, a son of the late Harry H. and Earl Smith Owens.
He was ordained as a United Baptist minister in 1993, being saved in 1963, and was a member of Martha United Baptist Church. Harry also retired as an electrician at AK Steel Corp. after 40 years of service.
Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Patricia Sturgill Owens; a son, Patrick Owens and wife Toni of Sidney, Ohio; a daughter, Pamela Oregeron and husband Milton of Nashville, Tenn.; two granddaughters, Korin (Norm) Kreiger and Krista (Mike) Goett; and three great-grandchildren, Haylie Fergus, Lowell Fergus and William Frederick.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at Westwood United Baptist Church by Elder A.J. Williamson. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland and after noon Friday at the church.
